| | Sylwia, do you see any disadvantage in being a woman consultant? On the contrary; in every area dominated by men, being a woman can be an advantage! But to be more serious, it depends more on the personality than on the gender. I see no big difference in consulting, between women and men. A Client having consulting services expects quick results, and the way to achieve them depends only on knowledge, hard work and ability to adapt quickly to new environments. In your opinion what should a Consultant be like? You need to have good ability to adapt, and establish relations with new people quickly. Being open and friendly, but at the same time confident and assertive. A good sense of humour can also help. What is your current project? I have started a new project. I am working in the quality department of an international automotive tier 2 supplier. My task is preparing quality documentation and presenting it to the client, monitoring the progress of the suppliers and validating the initial samples they produce. I ensure that relevant quality standards are implemented. What fascinates you in your profession? Constant change and learning new things is the main feature. I also like the contact with people very much, and working on quality certainly gives me this opportunity. Being a consultant I work with various products, on various issues in various companies, which gives me a lot of knowledge and experience in changing environments. I don’t like monotony and clearly this is not a monotonous job. What are your career objectives? Since my studies, I have focused on quality. My first job in this field was in the automotive industry which fascinates me. I see my future in further developing quality, perhaps in the automotive industry, but also possibly in aerospace. Altran gave me the possibility to very quick acquire experience in various environments and in various aspects of quality. How is your lifestyle? Do you find enough time for yourself? Well, there is no point in hiding that my lifestyle is different from a typical nine-to-five job. I spend a lot of time in clients’ plants/offices, which can be in different countries. Sometimes it’s hard because deadlines are tight and clients are demanding. But it’s challenging in a positive sense. There are obviously other advantages, especially for a young, ambitious person. Working in international environments means trips, working with top-executives, business lunches in good restaurants. For me the key is that I’m able to share my time between work and private life. Despite working in a remote location, I return to Krakow every weekend (where I live) to spend time with my family and friends. Sylwia, you have just returned from your vacation to Cuba. How was it? Wonderful! It is a very specific place. When you come to Cuba you have an impression you moved back in time to the 1950s. There are a lot of big old American cars, and in the evenings you hear salsa everywhere. Life runs very slowly. There are beautiful buildings, landscapes, beaches, a very warm sea, lots of sun and beautiful coral reefs. It’s a great place for diving! More information | |
