| Zdeněk, you have quite an interesting career and have been through lots of places. What was the most original experience you had before joining Altran? It was in the mid 80s when as a young engineer I went to work as a supervisor of the construction and launch of a gas treatment plant. The plant was built in the middle of the oil fields in the desert. I stayed for many months in the camp with 300 constructors, pipe fitters and engineers. The nearest city was 80 km away. To do our work, we relied only on our skills, the books we brought, and the support we had from each other! Did this experience help you as an Altran manager? Yes, it did. Especially when I needed additional information for my work. I knew that it was there somewhere and had to “dig” deeper and harder to get it. I also learnt the importance of team spirit: I can rely on my colleagues and they can rely on me. We face challenges that cannot be accomplished alone, but we know that by joining skills, the team will make it and we will reach the common goal. Why did you decide to join Altran CEE as a manager? Actually, I took the decision of joining Altran after the first interviews. I saw an advert and was curious so I decided to send my CV. During the interviews, I met passionate people and I realized that the job was made for me! I was very attracted by the freedom of Altran managers. On one hand we can take our own decisions, on the other hand we have access to strong support whenever we need it. Now that I work as a manager, I love taking decisions, going to different places, working with different people and having fun! What can Altran offer potential candidates as a career, that industry cannot? We have access to a huge amount of technical knowledge, working on many projects in the most dynamic of industrial companies. We do not only work for our client companies, we actually work in them. This offers us a wide knowledge of industries and high skills. We also benefit from the expertise of the international Altran network at large. Altran employees also have opportunities abroad. They develop their skills and quickly become a local reference for their knowledge. As their capabilities grow, their field of action is enlarged and their can very easily start providing their high added-value internationally. One of your tasks is recruitment. Would you have any advice for candidates? There is only one advice for the applicants: be natural! We don’t look for people who know everything; we look for normal open-minded people who are curious about life and not afraid of learning new things. Zdeněk, what do you do for fun and relaxation? Most of all, sports. I play volleyball every Wednesday after work. In winter I like to spend as much time as possible on skis and in summer on a bike. I also enjoy having a good glass of Cognac that I bring back from my trips! More information |
