This year again, a talented young Czech engineer convinced the jury over projects from Slovakia and Poland. Hopefully Tomáš Dynybyl will follow the steps of Josef Dubský, winner of the 2007 Altran Engineering Academy, and win a 6-month internship within the ING Renault F1 Team.

This CEE final was hosted in the premises of ČVUT on Monday 9th of June. The 3 best candidates from Central Europe were invited to present their project to improve the performance of formula 1 car. Anna Mražiková from Slovakia presented ideas to improve the characteristics of materials thanks to annealing treatments. Grzegorz Kiersnowski from Poland proposed aerodynamics improvements by modifying the main air entries to the engine. Tomáš Dynybyl presented a very ambitious project of engine development which could allow fuel consumption reduction while keeping high performance.

Tomáš Dynybyl will fly to the international final in Enstone (UK) on 30th of June to present his project to the research & development department of the ING Renault F1 Team. He will compete with 5 candidates from Germany, Brazil, Spain, Italy and France. The jury will be composed of senior consultants from Altran and be chaired by Robin Tuluie, head of R&D for the ING Renault F1 Team.

The winner will get a six-month internship within the research & development center of Renault Formula 1 in Enstone, accommodation near to Oxford, company car and a mentor from Altran who will support him during the internship and help him to make the best from this opportunity.
Last year winner, Josef Dubský, attended the CEE final as a member of the jury. He welcomed all candidates by a word about his experience in the Renault F1 Team. “One year ago I was sitting at your place. At that time I did not realize what it would mean to be part of the formula 1 research and development. The Altran Engineering Academy positively surprised me. It was a great opportunity.”

Altran Engineering Academy
The Altran Engineering Academy was born five years ago from a bit of logical reasoning: it is never too early to invest in the future. As a company, Altran is very much interested in the brightest students in science and technology, and so is the ING Renault F1 Team. Creating a common competition which would help to identify the young and brilliant minds at work all over the world seemed like the natural thing to do.

Participating in this competition attracts every year hundreds of young applicants from the best universities and schools worldwide, Ing. Josef Dubský is the fourth winner of the AEA.
