| 1. What professional background led you to your current position at Altran? I studied and graduated in Public Administration and then mastered in International Economics (University of Leiden in the Netherlands). I started my career in IT consultancy with a small IT-company and worked on projects in varied market areas (Public Sector, Trade & Industry and Insurance) as an analyst, consultant and project leader. And now, I am Managing Consultant & Business Manager Insurance & Pensions with DCE Consultants, where I have worked for now 8 years. 2. What does such a position entail in terms of responsibilities? My position offers a great variety of responsibilities. People management is an important one since I am responsible for the personal and professional development of 17 consultants. Furthermore, I take care of commercial business management and client management, service and market development and recruitment. Next to all of this I am also actively involved in part-time assignments at the clients’, doing mainly management consulting, strategy implementation, and organisational development and change-planning. 3. And in terms of perspectives? In the short term, I would like to further develop my group of consultants in a mature and independent entrepreneurial business unit and enter our board of directors to take responsibility in the overall development of DCE Consultants towards the next level of strategy implementation and innovation. In the long term, I might start a new DCE-office abroad (for example Spain, Italy or Germany). 4. What is your best professional memory in your 8 years at Altran? 4, 5 years ago I was managing a major Shared Service Centre-project at a national pension fund. The project was a clear example of strategy implementation with an organisational redesign and human change components, IT changes and process improvements. But it was in a very politically-loaded environment. The approach we offered to the project turned out to be a great success for our client and commercially also for DCE since I was able to set-up a multi-disciplinary team of 15 DCE consultants. It was a break-through experience with best-practices and lessons learned I still use every day! 5. Do you feel working at Altran has been positive to your personal and professional development? Absolutely. It has taught me some truly valuable lessons, such as the fact that success is a choice. I also learned that drive and devotion are crucial for development and success. Our mission is “creating value with people” and that’s what we do! It is extremely important to cherish and develop your people/ human capital. 6. What do you appreciate the most in working at Altran? It’s a people business… so it’s always fascinating! You can always expect the unexpected. We are always striving for change and improvement and I can really use all my creativity and energy to create and realize change! |
