Altran Solutions

Jean-Luc Chabaudie, Solution Manager – Embedded and Critical Systems

What is your function in the Altran group and what are your responsibilities?

Within the core team of the Embedded and Critical Systems Group solution, I am in charge of the Systems Engineering and Electronics practices, aiming at building and proposing generic and customised solutions, according to market trends and client’s needs.

I am also in charge of the global partnership with Esterel, editor of software tools dedicated to critical environments. Finally, I’m also the Point of Contact for the ASDR industry, and France, Italy and Benelux Geographies.

In your opinion, what are the main challenges for ECS?

The main challenge is to build solutions addressing current and future issues in Systems Engineering (model based safety, model-based system engineering, lifecycle performance…) or Electronics (ASICs vs. FPGAs, power management and power control, connectivity, smart sensors...) according to new business models, time-to-market and cost pressures.

What does this Group solution bring to Altran’s clients?

Altran has a depth of expertise in my main areas of Systems Engineering and Electronics.  We bring customised solutions to clients based on their specific needs, using capability and expertise from around the Group. The structure of Altran enables us to stay close to clients and deliver a local service wherever the project is delivered, meeting local challenges and investing to answer future trends.

Altran’s key assets are the Altran people and expertise centres around the Altran Group. For example we have expertise centres in:

  • model-based technology in Toulouse;
  • innovation management in Paris;
  • electronics in Annecy, Milan and Madrid.

Finally, what are your key assets that will help you to succeed in your role?

My key assets are the Altran people, and first of all the ECS core team, who are very close to me despite separate worksites. On Systems Engineering as for Electronics, our key assets are numerous: Toulouse for MBSE, Altran Praxis and Italy for MBSA, Paris for Design to X and Requirement Management, Decision Sequence, and IVVQ. In electronics, we can rely on Italy for aerospace and defense, Italy for railway and automotive, NSI for automotive and transportation, and Toulouse for avionics, Belgium and Serbia for client-oriented markets.
