On 11 February 2020, on the occasion of the United Nations “International Day of Women and Girls in Science”, Altran launched the 1st edition of the “Altran Women in STEM” project.
With this initiative, the company puts into action a series of actions to enhance its employees who have embarked on a brilliant career in the STEM sector and who, thanks to their skills, give added value every day to the projects they work on.
The project, which is part of Altran’s “Inclusion & Diversity” program, is consistent with the 5th goal of the United Nations “Sustainable Develoment Goals” dedicated to “Gender Equality”.
The UN highlights that the gender gap in the STEM sector has profound implications for the future of the global economy. At the start of the fourth industrial revolution, women enjoyed less than two thirds of the economic opportunities offered to men. There are still few women who hold decision-making in the STEM field and who have the most profitable STEM jobs.
The work of the future will be guided by technology and innovation and if the gender division found in engineering and STEM materials is not soon bridged, the general gender gap is likely to widen.
Altran is committed to creating the conditions for women with STEM training to have equal employment opportunities, to carry out a profession that enhances their skills through the corporate processes of selection, retention, talent development, total rewards.
